Privacy Policy
Effective November 7, 2026
The short version: Twistday has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Everything you create stays on your iPhone. The developer runs no servers and never receives your data. The only thing that ever leaves your phone is a rough location sent to a weather service, and only if you turn on “Check the weather”.
This policy covers the Twistday app for iPhone and this website. Twistday is made by Mohsen Bostan, an individual developer based in the EU (“I”, “me”). Questions? Write to hi@twistday.app.
What I collect
Nothing. There is no sign-in and no account. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and no third-party SDKs. I don't run any servers for the app, so there is nowhere for your data to go, and I can't see anything you do in it.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you create in Twistday is stored only on your device, in the app's own storage (shared with its widgets so they can show today's quest). That includes:
- your quest history, streaks, character sheet and settings
- notes, photos and voice notes you add as proof
- the rough locations used for your recap map (see below)
The app has no cloud sync or online backup of its own. If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, iOS may include the app's data in that backup. Those backups are yours and are handled by Apple under your own settings, not by me.
Deleting the app deletes all of its data.
Location (optional)
Twistday only asks for your location (“While Using the App”) if you turn on Check the weather in the app. You can turn it off at any time in the app, or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Twistday. It is used for two things:
1. Skipping outdoor quests when it's wet
To check whether it's raining or snowing where you are, the app sends your coordinates, rounded to 0.1° (roughly 11 km), to Open-Meteo, a free weather service run by OpenMeteo GmbH in Switzerland. No name, account or device ID is sent. Like any website, Open-Meteo receives your IP address with the request. According to Open-Meteo's terms and privacy notice, it keeps web server logs, which may include IP addresses and the coordinates in the request, for troubleshooting and to prevent misuse, does not share them with third parties, and deletes them after 90 days. Open-Meteo is an independent data controller for those logs; please see its notice for details.
2. Your recap map
When you finish a quest, a location rounded to about 1 km is saved on your device with it, so your monthly and yearly recap can show where your quests happened. These saved locations are never sent to me or to anyone else, and they aren't included in recap images you share. The map itself is drawn with Apple Maps, which loads map images from Apple the same way any map on your iPhone does.
Camera, photos and microphone
Twistday uses the camera, your photo library and the microphone only when you choose to attach proof to a quest: a photo or a voice note of up to 30 seconds. What you attach stays in the app on your device. The app asks to save to Photos only when you choose to save or share a recap image.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. No push service and no server are involved.
Sharing
Nothing is shared unless you tap Share. You then choose where it goes using the standard iOS share sheet, and what happens next is up to the app or person you share with.
This website
twistday.app has no cookies, analytics, ads or third-party scripts, and its fonts are hosted on the site itself. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes basic request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
App Store privacy label
This matches the label on the App Store: Coarse Location, used for App Functionality, not linked to you and not used for tracking (the weather check above). Everything else: Data Not Collected.
Children
Twistday is not directed at children under 13. It doesn't collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data. Because I don't hold any personal data about you, there is nothing on my side to access or delete: all of your Twistday data is on your device, and deleting the app removes it. For anything Open-Meteo logs, you can contact Open-Meteo directly. If you have questions, email hi@twistday.app.
